Mike Tansey....

A custom painter for some 40 years.  He started at 11 years old building model cars and won lots of contests . While still very young he was also customizing bicycles. By the time he became a teenager, he was building hot rods and race cars, but his greatest satisfaction always came from custom paint work. His work has won many car and bike  show awards.

In 1971, while living in California, he went to work for Tom McMullen as a writer for magazines like STREET CHOPPER, and HOT BIKE .  During the late 70's he operated a custom van shop, which also wound-up doing a lot of  Corvettes, bikes, and restorations. Today living in Knoxville, Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains, he continues to share his expertise with young up-coming newbies to the custom paint craft. He's one of the few "old-school" custom painters applying vintage paint tricks to the new line of paint products, while utilizing the older lacquer techniques as well.

Mike also owns a video production company, and is  working-on a custom painter's training video. Watch this site for release schedule !
